Passed June 27, 2024 at age 86.

Predeceased by parents, Frederick & Margaret Baker; daughter Jane (Jim) Bacon; & his brother, Frederick (Mae) Baker Jr.
Survived by his wife, Janet 'Ludwig' Baker; daughters, Robyn Baker & Wendy Baker; son, Christopher (Lauren) Williams; grandchildren, Lydia (Jonah) Lester, Jessica Barnes, Brooke Barnes, Karl Williams, & Vivienne Williams; great-grandchildren, Sheyan, Hailey & Nataly Lester.

Al was born in Waterbury, Connecticut. He attended Norwich University in Vermont & served as a Platoon Tank Unit Commander in the US Army. Following his career at Eastman Kodak Co., he ran his own business installing dog containment systems. He enjoyed many interests including his motorcycle, flying his ultralight, earning his private pilot license & blacksmithing. Al received much knowledge & support from the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) Rochester Chapter.

During his time working at Norwich from 1967 until 1976, Fred served first as a member of the Army ROTC staff and later in various admistrative roles, including the Director of Admissions.

He was a member of the Outing Club, Canterbury Club, Junior Week Committee, Winter Carnival Committee, Guidon Staff, War Whoop Staff, Mountain & Cold Weather, and Lambda Chi Alpha. He was also on the Board of Fellows, was a Partridge Society Two-Star General, and a member of the 1819 Circle with over 11 years of consecutive giving. A memorial service will be held on October 2nd at the Norwich University Cemetery in Northfield, VT.

It is with deep regret that I inform you of the death of George F. Giering, Class of 1965, brother of Elizabeth (Giering) Ross, VC Class of 1974.
George, 81, of Woodbridge, CT passed away on February 29, 2024. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. George was a member of the Winter Carnival and Regimental Ball committees, the Honor Tank Platoon, Mountain & Cold Weather, and was a Distinguished Military Graduate. Through the years, he was a NU Admissions Representative and a 1965 Class Agent, serving as chair of his class reunion from graduation until his 50th reunion. George was a member of the Norwich University Board of Trustees from 1983-1987 and the Norwich University Alumni Association Board from 1978-1980. He also served as a member of the NU Board of Fellows. He was presented with the Norwich University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1985. In 2015, George also received the NU Admissions Sustained Service Award. George also endowed two Norwich University scholarships for cadets, the George F. Giering '65 Scholarship and the George F. and Ethel W. Giering Scholarship . He and his wife, Geraldine, are Partridge Society Two-Star Generals and Garrison Associates Founding members.

Ralph, 66, and Kathy, 71, of Alexandria, VA were declared presumed dead on February 27, 2024 after their vacht was found abandoned in the Caribbean. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education. Ralph was a member of the Rugby Club. There is no service or obituary information.
